  Keep in mind that I am in receipt of free NHS dental treatment. February 1st 2017: I got an emergency appointment for a problematic wisdom tooth. It was removed quickly and with little pain. Whilst setting up as a new patient I was told that due to a member of staff going on maternity leave that I would not be able to have regular appointments until later on in the year. The dentist recommended, as I needed some extensive work done to my teeth, I go elsewhere for my treatment as I would only be allowed emergency appointments until they were accepting new patients again. I said I was happy to wait as the procedure had went smoothly and I was happy with the dentist. September 5th 2017: After a phonecall with the receptionist two weeks previous I had arranged this appointment and confirmed that the practice was taking new patients. I turned up and was greeted with good manners from the receptionist then it went down hill. The dentist told me I was only to be seen on emergency appointments and was not interested in my explanation that I had confirmed the practice was taking new patients and the appointment ended with him telling me that I “Had lots of bad teeth” and that he couldn’t treat me after examining my teeth for less than two minutes. I was mortified. But here is my issue. I don’t drink alcohol and I don’t do drugs, my teeth are not that bad. Two teeth need filling, two wisdom teeth need removing, and a third needs either a crown OR removing. That is the restoration work that needs done HOWEVER the dentist didn’t tell me any of this. So, either this practice cannot fill, remove, and crown teeth (Which I know they can because they removed my wisdom tooth.) or they did not want to take on a person in receipt of free NHS dental treatment, or they didn’t want me as a patient for an unspecified reason. In all cases this a violation of ethics. I would have been fine if he had just said, “No, we do not want to take you on as a patient.”. That would have been fine but instead I was lied to and made to wait seven months to get the truth. That is grave misconduct.
