  From the moment the paramedics arrived, my relative experienced outstanding care over a period of more than 10 weeks. The paramedics were wonderful and caring but with a deft touch. They showed huge respect for my relative and me, using light-hearted banter, supreme professionalism and respect every moment we spent with them. They even popped up again later in A&E to see how my relative was doing. Admission to A&E was seamless and the individual rooms gave privacy. Staff always introduced themselves, were efficient and communicated clearly yet caringly with my relative and with us, the family. Transfer across the hospital was efficient. The ongoing care was excellent at every stage. Staff ensured that we knew what was happening, how our relative was day-to-day, drugs regime and other therapies. Every question or concern we had was either addressed straight away or had already been addressed. They even cared for us, the family, sending us to our GPs or other services,, even though we were not their patients. My relative reported that the food was good (though they have a conservative palate! ) and that every member of staff was lovely - warm, kind and took time to listen to the patients. Every member of staff took the time to get know my relative very well. At no point did we worry about care. We had ample warning of discharge and received counselling and advice about ongoing care. Over the many weeks, we observed nothing but exemplary care from every member of staff. The QE gives outstanding care and support to its patients and their families. In my experience, 5* all the way.

  Have spent lots of time at this hospital. They saved my life on two occasions! First on 15th October 2010. Then once again in February 2011 and again in July 2016! All due to complications and infections etc. So I have lots to thank this hospital indeed I find the NHS hospital one if the cleanest in the Northeast. Staff also friendly, helpful and caring. Even being short staffed with all the cuts everyone seems to have to make.
